As per the National Education Policy 2020, Academic Credit of Bank (ABC) has been envisioned to facilitate the academic mobility of students with the freedom to study across the country’s higher education institutions with the appropriate “credit transfer” mechanism from one program to another, leading to degree/diploma/diploma PG, etc.

Academic Bank of Credits Process
The credits earned by students will be deposited into their ‘Academic Account’ at ABC. If the student transfers to a different institution, the credits accumulated will be transferred to the account of the new institution. Credits can be transferred from one institution to be pooled in another program offered by the same institution or another institution. Once the credit has been redeemed for the award of the above, it will be deducted permanently from the respective student’s “Academic Account” at ABC.
- Allocation – The process of allocating several credits to individual qualifications, degree programs, or educational components. Credits are allocated to qualifications or entire programs according to the respective universities or independent institutions participating in the ABC scheme.
- Accumulation – The student may accumulate credits in order to earn qualifications, as required by the degree-awarding institution, or to document personal achievements for the purposes of lifelong learning.
- Awarding or Scholarships – The process of formally awarding students and other learners the credits assigned to qualification and/or its components if they achieve the specified learning outcomes. Credits are awarded to individual students after completion of required learning activities and achievement of specified learning outcomes, as evidenced by appropriate assessment.
