Details and Announcement of Deendayal Clinics in Gujarat
The scheme for Deendayal clinics was announced in the state budget, but it cannot be implemented because the entire organs of the Ministry of Health have been working in the fight against the epidemic since March. “Deendayal Yojana” is a permanent state government scheme that will help poor people get treatment near their homes.
The state government of Gujarat has announced the creation of Deendayal Clinics for the urban poor residing in densely populated areas such as slums and shanties. This announcement comes against the backdrop of urban local authority elections scheduled to take place in 6 municipal corporations and 55 state municipalities in February 2021.
Where the Deen Dayal Clinics will be Established
- Deen Dayal Clinics will start on a priority basis in those densely populated areas.
- The Gujarat state government has given directions to the state’s health department, municipal corporations, and municipalities to shortlist these localities with a large population.
- Such clinics will be set up in slum areas of civic corporations with a population of more than 1 lakh.
- The state government has instructed municipal commissioners to define areas in their cities where these clinics can be established with priority given to populated areas.
There are many slums/favelas where no ambulances or auto rickshaws can enter. People from these areas avoid seeing a doctor during the first stage of the disease. They will go to a private doctor or government clinic after the disease gets worse.
Treatment Appointments at the Deendayal Clinics
Deendayal Clinics in Gujarat will remain open all day. MBBS or AYUSH doctors will treat outpatients and provide medication for free between 4 PM and 6 PM every day. More than five Deendayal Clinics will be started in Ramdev Pir Tekra locality in Ahmedabad which has a population of around 30,000.
