Gujarat Two Wheeler or E-Scooter Subsidy Scheme was announced by the State Government. Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani on Thursday, September 17th, launched Subsidy Schemes for two-wheeled electric vehicles and e-rickshaws to promote electric vehicles in the state.

Under this scheme, the state government will provide a subsidy of 12,000 INR for a two-wheel battery electric vehicle, and a 48,000 INR e-rickshaw (three-wheeler).

Gujarat Two Wheeler/E-Scooter Subsidy Scheme Details

The launch of the Gujarat Two/Three Wheeler scheme was announced during a virtual program on climate change to commemorate the foundation day of the state’s Climate Change Division. The Cabinet also announced a subsidy as a “Panchsheel gift” for five development schemes in Gujarat to celebrate the 70th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Features of Gujarat Two Wheeler Scheme or E Scooter Subsidy Scheme

• The state government will provide a subsidy of 12,000 rupees per student to purchase an electric scooter.
• The Gujarat Two Wheeler Scheme Program will provide assistance to students who take class 9 to college.
• The subsidy amount is only for the purchase of battery-powered e-scooters.
• About 10,000 such electric vehicles will be provided under the two-wheel scheme.

Subsidy on e-rickshaw Gujarat Three Wheeler Scheme

• The government will provide a subsidy of 48,000 rupees per applicant for purchasing electric rickshaws.
• The Gujarat Three Wheeler Scheme will provide assistance to beneficiary individuals and organizations.
• The subsidy amount is only intended for the purchase of battery-powered electric rickshaws.

Facilities to Charge Battery-Powered Vehicles Infrastructure Setup Subsidy Scheme

Gujarat Two Wheeler and Three Wheeler schemes will be extended according to the applicant’s response. The Gujarat state government will also launch an Rs.5 lakh subsidy scheme to establish infrastructure facilities in the state to charge a battery-powered vehicle.

The total installed electrical capacity in the state is 35,500 MW. Renewable energy contributes 30% of the total installed capacity in Gujarat which is more than the national average of 23%. The Climate Change Department has also signed virtual memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with 10 organizations. These MoUs will reduce the impacts of climate change and increase the use of renewable energy through the use of space technology and geographic information science.

Please Note – the state government has not announced any online or offline method to apply it now. As soon as an ordinance is issued to implement this scheme, we will inform you immediately.

Mitigation MoU for Climate Change Risk Assessment

An MoU for Climate Change Risk Assessment has been signed with the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) for Climate Management and Climate Policy Affairs. This MOU has also been signed with the Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar (IITGn) to create, research, and promote the public benefit of scientific information in the field of climate change and the environment.

An MoU has also been signed with Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation and Gujarat Gas. This MoU was signed to increase the use of clean fuels such as in-vehicle compressed natural gas transactions and to form a building code for energy savings in homes with the City Master Plan.
