What is the Jnanabhumi Scholarship Portal in Details

To democratize access to higher education and thus improve demographic yield potential, the Government of Andhra Pradesh is disbursing Post-Matric Scholarships (PMS) and other education scholarship schemes at a value of Rs. 5000 crores annually to 17 Lakh students belonging to SC, ST, BC, Minority, Kapu, EBC, and communities of different ability, based on saturation. In addition, several other scholarship schemes worth Rs 1,500 crore are administered through the Jnanabhumi portal.

Eligibility Criteria for the Jnanabhumi Scholarship

The eligibility criteria for both types of scholarships are given below in the following list:-

Post-matric Scholarship

• Students who are pursuing polytechnic/ITI/Degree/top-level courses from government/assisted/private college of government universities/Councils can apply
• Students researching the day who are studying in a hostel or hostel attached to the department attached to the college can apply.
• 75% total attendance is mandatory for the applicant for the scholarship.
• The annual income of the applicant’s family should not exceed Rs. 2.50 lakh.
• The total land area owned by the applicant’s family must not exceed 10 acres, 25 dry acres, or 25 acres together.
• In the applicant’s family, no one should be a government employee or retired except sanitation workers.
• The applicant’s family must not own a 4WD vehicle except for taxis, tractors, or cars.
• No one in the applicant’s family should be an income taxpayer.

The applicant must follow the following annual income criteria as finalized by the concerned authorities:-

SC	Rs.2 lakh
ST	Rs.2 lakh
BC	Rs.1 lakh
Minorities	Rs.1.5 lakhs in the rural area and Rs.2 lakhs in the urban area
EBC	Rs.1 lakh
Kapu	Rs.1 lakh
Differently Abled	Rs.1 lakh

Pre-matric Scholarship

• The applicant must belong to the SC/ST/BC/Disabled community.
• Annual income should not exceed Rs. 2 lahks annually.
• SC/ST/BC/disabled applicants can apply if they are studying from the 5th to 10th class.
• Applicants from the BC community can only apply when the student is studying at the ninth or tenth (10th) standard.

In-Eligible for Post Matric scholarship

• An applicant who is studying at a private university or which is considered to be an unqualified university.
• An applicant who is pursuing correspondence or distance education courses is also not eligible.
• Students who have gained admission under the administrative/immediate quota cannot apply for the scholarship.

In the eligibility criteria, “The candidate must possess a minimum of 70% marks in both Undergraduate and Postgraduate.” It can be read as “The candidate must possess not less than 60% marks in both under graduation and post-graduation.”
