Rural women leadership in the Nav Tejaswini Rural Women Empowerment Program
Nav Tejaswini Yojana Rural Women Empowerment Program -: The state government of Maharashtra aims to empower women financially through Self Help Groups (SHGs). The rural self-help movement is strictly managed by MAVIM.
Since women do not own property, they have not been part of any formal banking system as people who are free to borrow. Loans are currently offered through self-help groups, but the loan amount is small and is approved by the SHGs rather than the independent female members.
Although the women are qualified and trained in industry or entrepreneurship, they face difficulties in approving the loan. Women find it difficult to get loans to set up businesses, and small enterprises, and produce goods, among other things.
Accordingly, Maharashtra’s Rural Women Empowerment Scheme, Navi Tejasweni, will prove revolutionary. The focus of the Nav Tejaswini scheme will be on providing personal loans to women and connecting banks with self-help groups.
