The PM CARES Fund was set up as a public charitable trust headed by the Prime Minister of India. Fund members include the Minister of Finance, the Minister of Interior, and the Minister of Defense. The PM CARES Fund aims to provide relief, support, or assistance of any kind for any public health emergency or any other type of emergency, distress, or disaster. The fund will also assist financially in developing healthcare facilities or any other necessary infrastructure for the public. All donations are accepted by the government through Google Pay, Phone Pay, Paytm, and Bhima. UPI, RTGS, NEFT, and IMPS. At the same time, the central government also announced that the donated income will also be exempted from income tax under Rule 80(g) of income tax by the central government.
Who Can Donate to the PM CARES Fund – पीएम केयर्स फंड में कौन कर सकता है डोनेट
Anyone such as an individual, company, corporation, or any other person can donate to the PM CARES Fund. Any amount of donation can be made starting from Rs 10. Donations must be made electronically or through a UPI. The fund was created to enable donations from all segments of society. Funds for PM CARES will not be allocated from the government budget but will be entirely composed of voluntary contributions from the public. Hence, spending from the fund would not require Parliament’s approval.
What are the objectives of the PM CARES Trust? – PM CARES ट्रस्ट के उद्देश्य क्या हैं?
To undertake and support relief or assistance of any kind in connection with a public health emergency or any other type of emergency, disaster or distress, whether man-made or natural, including the establishment or upgrade of health care facilities or medicines, and other necessary infrastructure or Related research funding or any other kind of support.
To provide financial assistance or grants for financial payments or to take any other steps that the Board of Trustees may deem necessary for the affected population.
To carry out any other activity that does not conflict with the above things.
Who are the trustees of PM CARES?
The Prime Minister is the Chairman (ex-officio) of the PM CARES Fund and the Minister of Defense, Minister of Home Affairs and Minister of Finance of the Government of India are ex officio Trustees of the Fund. In their capacity as Chair of the PM CARES Board of Trustees, Prime Ministers have the power to nominate three Board Trustees to be prominent figures in research, health, science, social work, law, public administration, and philanthropy. All PM CARES Trustees are working free of charge.
What are the modes through which domestic donations can be made to PM CARES Fund?
Contributions can be made by following modes:-
- Net Banking (SBI and other commercial Banks)
- Card Payments – SBI ATM-cum-Debit Card, Other Bank Debit Cards, Credit Card, Prepaid Card, Foreign Card
- Another Payment mode: SBI Branch, NEFT/RTGS
- Contributions can also be made online through the dedicated portal – pmcares.gov.in as well as the portal of PMO i.e. pmindia.gov.in. One can also contribute through the portals of the collection banks.
Moreover, a check or demand draft drawn in favor of the “CARES Fund” can be sent to the Undersecretary (Funds), PMO, South Block, New Delhi, Pin-110011 along with the name, address, mobile phone number, and email ID of the donor.
How Much Money Has Been Sanctioned from PM CARES Fund?
So far, the amount of Rs. Rs 3,100 crore has been allocated from PM CARES Fund for the following activities:-
- Rs. 2000 Crore: to supply 50,000 ‘Made in India’ respirators to government hospitals run by the Centre/States/UT
- Rs. 1000 Crore: to sponsor migrant workers (money allocated to state/Utah governments.)
- Rs. 100 Crore: for vaccine development

Receipt Printing Process – PM CARES Fund
- First of all, you have to go to the official website of the PM Cares Fund – https://www.pmcares.gov.in/en.

- On the main page, you have to click on the option to print the receipt.
- Next, you have to select the channel through which you donated.
- Now you have to enter your mobile phone number and bank reference number.
- Next, you have to click on the Get OTP option.
- Now the one-time password that will appear on your mobile number, you will have to enter in the OTP box.
- Next, you have to click on the Submit option.
- Now your response will open in front of you.
- You can download and print this receipt.
How Will the Official Donation Receipt for Donors be Issued?
The donor will be able to download the official donation receipt by visiting the “Print Receipt” section of the PM CARES portal to complete the transaction successfully. Process flow and schedule for generation of receipts are given by different modes of the transaction as follows:-

Is External Donation Accepted into the PM CARES Fund?
Yeah. PM CARES Fund is exempt from operating all provisions of the Foreign Contributions (Regulation) Act of 2010. Foreign donations from individuals and organizations located in foreign countries are accepted through foreign credit/debit cards and also through bank transfer / SWIFT.
