What are PM Daksh Yojana Details – पीएम दक्ष योजना क्या हैं

Pradhan Mantri Dakshta Aur Kushalta Sampann Hitgrahi (PM-DAKSH) Yojana is being implemented by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment. PM DAKSH Yojana is a national action plan for training marginalized people which includes SCs, OBCs, EBCs, DNTs, and sanitation workers including Including waste pickers.

The PM Daksh scheme aims to improve the overall efficiency levels of his target group which consists of the members of the Scheduled Caste communities and the poorer section of the other backward class communities, the sanitation workers.

Objectives of PM Daksh Yojana

To improve the overall competence and dexterity of 2.7 lakh people, over the next five years, starting with approximately 0.5 lakh young people in the first year, i.e. 2021-22, from the following sections of the target group:

  • Artisans – may be able to improve their income-generating abilities in the occupations they practice.
  • Women – may be able to be self-employed and thus financially empower themselves without neglecting their domestic activities.
  • Young people from the target groups – may receive long-term training and specialization in employable occupations, giving them a better position in the labor market.

Key Features of the PM Daksh Scheme

  • Free training for trainees, 100% government grant.
  • Salary from 1.000/- to Rs. 1500/- per month per trainee for trainees with 80% attendance and above in short-term and long-term training.
  • Compensation of remuneration @ Rs 3,000/- per trainee (2,500 rupees/- as per PM-DAKSH and Rs 500/- as per general cost criteria for trainees with 80% attendance and above in reskilling/upskilling.
  • Trained candidates will be awarded a certificate after the successful completion of training and assessment.
  • Trained candidates will be provided with placement after assessment and certification.

Types of Skills Programs in PM Daksh Scheme

Top or Up Skills / Reskills

  • Training of rural artisans, domestic workers, sanitation workers, etc., for the profession of practice, such as pottery, weaving, carpentry, waste separation, household workers, etc. along with financial and digital literacy.
  • Duration: 32 to 80 hours spaced over one month.
  • The cost of training will be limited to the limits of general cost criteria, along with Rs 2,500/- for interns in order to make up for the loss of wages.

Short Term Training Courses (focusing on wage/self-employment)

  • Various job roles according to the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF) / National Occupational Standard (NOS), issued by MSDE.
  • Focus on business/self-employment opportunities such as training self-employed tailors, furniture making, food processing, etc. along with financial and digital literacy.
  • Duration: Usually 200 hours to 600 hours and up to 6 months, as stipulated in National Occupational Standards (NOS) and Qualifications Packages (QPs).
  • The cost of training will be limited within the general cost parameters, along with the salaries of trainees in the case of non-residential training.

Entrepreneurship Development Programmes (EDP)

  • SC and OBC youth prefer to undergo skills training under PMKVY and have an entrepreneurial mind.
  • The curriculum is modeled after the Ministry of Planning and Development programs that are implemented by RSETIs. It is conducted by RSETIs, NIESBUD, IIE, and other similar organizations.
  • Sessions on business opportunity guidance, market survey, working capital, and its management, business plan preparation, etc.
  • Duration: Usually 80-90 hours (10-15 days) or as stipulated by the Ministry of Interior.
  • Training cost according to MoRD/Common Cost Standards (CCN).

Long-term courses (focus on wage/self-employment)

  • Long-term training in sectors that have good demand in the labor market sets wages for trained candidates.
  • The training programs will be according to NSQF, NCVT, AICTE, MSME, etc. in areas such as production technology, plastic processing, apparel technology, the healthcare sector, etc.
  • Duration: 5 months and above and usually up to 1 year (up to 1000 hours), as stipulated by the relevant board/regulatory body of the training center.
  • The cost of training as per CCN or as stipulated by the relevant board along with the stipend for non-residential programs.
