What is PM Poshan Shakti Nirman Yojana
पीएम पोषण शक्ति निर्माण योजना क्या है – A new scheme is initiated by the country’s prime minister. Under this scheme, the child will be served cooked food from preschool to eighth grade. Under this scheme, 11.80 crore children from 11.20 lakh schools from Bal Patika (Pre-school) to Primary School (Class 8) will get benefits.
Nowadays a mid-day meal scheme is run by the government. Schools are subsidized by the government to provide cooked meals to ensure proper nutrition for students. The central government changed the name of this MDM scheme to Chief Minister Bhushan Shakti Nirman Yojana. The new Pradhan Mantri Poshan Yojana will be implemented over the next five years i.e. 2021-22 to 2025-26 with an expenditure of Rs. 1.3 crores of Rs.

Benefits and Eligibility of Ensuring Nutrition and Promoting Education – PMPSNY Scheme
- PM Poshan Shakti Nirman scheme has been launched for the next 5 years period 2021-22 to 2025-26.
- Total expenses Rs 85,794.90 crore with a central share of Rs 54,061.73 crore and a state/UT share of Rs 31,733.17 crore.
- The central government will bear the additional cost of Rs 45,000 crore on food grains.
- The scheme has been extended to children of preparatory classes or Balvatika (before Class I).
- All other components of the current Class 1-VIII Mid-Day Meal scheme will continue under PM POSHAN.
- The scheme will cover about 11.80 crore children attending 11.20 lakh schools across the country.

Mid-Day Meal Project renamed PM Poshan Shakti Nirman
Union Minister for Media and Broadcasting Anurag Thakur has stated that the current Mid-Day Meal project will be renamed to be the national scheme of ‘PM Poshan Shakti Nirman‘. Union Cabinet approves to start of PM Poshan scheme to provide mid-day meals to students in over 11.2 lakh Govt and Govt-aided schools across the country. The scheme will run for 5 years and Rs 1.31 lakh crore will be spent,”

The government, during the last year, has invested more than Rs 24,400 crore in the scheme, including about Rs 11,500 crore in food grains. The scheme plan aims to eliminate child malnutrition by 2022 as the various ministries will cooperate with the drive to reduce the level of stunting, undernutrition, low birth weight children, and anemia.
