The government of Himachal Pradesh has taken several positive steps to improve the standard of living besides providing basic amenities to the people of the state. In a budget speech last year, CM Jai Ram Thakur announced Swaran Jayanti Ashraya Yojana. This was widely appreciated. Due to COVID, the implementation of the scheme has been delayed.
Emphasizing the HP state government’s commitment, CM Jai Ram Thakur proposed sanctioning/penalizing 12,000 homes with essential facilities during 2021-2022. Last year, that number was 10,000. In his budget speech, CM stated, “Under Swaran Jayanti Ashraya Yojana, 12,000 beneficiary homes will be provided equipped with all basic facilities. By 2023, all eligible SC applicants will have a home available”.
